MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025: Over 2,400 Students Get Upgraded Seats in Round 2 Final Allotment

    NEET UG

In the second round of NEET UG counselling 2025 under the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), a large number of candidates have benefited from upgradation of seats after the final allotment results. More than 2,400 students have been upgraded to better colleges or courses in the Round 2 final seat allotment.

    Key Highlights

    • The Round 2 final allotment has been completed, following the closure of the provisional result and the grievance/discrepancy window.

    • Alongside the upgrades, there were 12,901 fresh seat allotments in this round.

    • A total of 35,551 candidates participated in the first two rounds of counselling.

    What “Upgraded Seats” Means

“Upgraded seats” refers to candidates who had earlier been allotted a medical or dental college in Round 1 or provisional Round 2, but had chosen the upgradation option. Based on merit, preferences, and seat availability, these candidates have now been allotted colleges or courses higher in their priority list.

    Timeline & Reporting

    • Provisional Round 2 Allotment was released on September 17, 2025.

    • Candidates had until the morning of September 18, 2025 to report discrepancies or grievances.

    • The final allotment result was then published, superseding the provisional list.

    • Reporting to allotted colleges for admission is scheduled between September 18 and September 25, 2025.

    Implications for Students

    • Candidates who have been upgraded must report to their newly allotted colleges within the given window and complete all admission formalities with original documents.

    • Those not upgraded will continue with their earlier Round 1 or Round 2 allotment, provided they had accepted it.

    • Further counselling rounds such as Round 3 (Mop-Up Round) and Stray Vacancy Round may be conducted to fill remaining seats.

    Additional Data

    • Round 2 included over 1,100 newly added seats in various categories, further expanding opportunities for aspirants.

    • The combination of new allotments and upgradation indicates that many students have secured placements in higher-preference institutions.

    What’s Next

    • Candidates must ensure timely reporting and fee payment to avoid cancellation of their seats.

    • MCC will soon announce details of the next phase of counselling, including the Mop-Up Round schedule.

    • With more seats likely to be vacated or added, upcoming rounds may provide additional opportunities for aspirants still waiting for their preferred colleges.
