AP NEET Counselling 2025: Free Exit From Round 1 Allotted College by September 21; 180 New MBBS Seats

The Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) has announced a major update for candidates participating in the AP NEET UG 2025 counselling. Students allotted seats in Round 1 and already reported to their colleges will be allowed a free exit option from their allotted institutions. The deadline to avail of this facility is September 21, 2025, up to 4:00 PM.
Free Exit Option for Round-1 Allottees
Candidates opting for free exit must submit an application to the principal of the allotted college where they reported.
On successful withdrawal, their original certificates will be returned and any fees paid will be refunded by the college.
Importantly, candidates who choose this exit will no longer be eligible for further counselling rounds under the Competent Authority Quota (CAQ).
However, they may still participate in Management Quota Phase-I counselling if seats are available.
Consequences of Not Opting for Exit
Candidates who do not avail of the free exit will continue with their Round-1 allotment.
They will also be eligible for sliding or upgradation in Round-2, depending on the options they had submitted earlier.
Public holidays will be treated as working days while calculating the deadline, making September 21 the final cut-off date for withdrawal.
180 New MBBS Seats Approved in Andhra Pradesh
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 180 additional MBBS seats for Andhra Pradesh, which will be factored into upcoming rounds of counselling. The distribution is as follows:
| Medical College | Seats Added |
|---|---|
| Government Medical College, Ongole | 30 |
| Anna Gowri Medical College & Hospital, Parameshwaramangalam | 100 |
| Santhiram Medical College, Nandyala | 50 |
These fresh seats, along with those vacated through free exit, are expected to increase opportunities for candidates in the upcoming Round-2 counselling.
Key Deadlines
Free Exit Last Date: September 21, 2025, 4:00 PM
No Exit After Deadline: After this date, students will have to continue with their allotted seats in CAQ counselling.
Round-2 Seat Allotment: Vacated seats and the newly added 180 MBBS seats will be available for the next round of allotment.
What This Means for Candidates
Flexibility for Students: Those unsatisfied with their current seat can withdraw without penalty.
Better Opportunities in Round-2: With additional MBBS seats and vacated seats from free exit, candidates may get improved options in the next phase.
Strategic Decision: Candidates must carefully decide between staying with their current allotment or opting out, as exiting removes them from CAQ counselling but keeps them eligible for management quota rounds.
