UP NEET UG 2025: DGME Opens Round 2 Registration, Says Allotment Subject to Allahabad HC Orders
The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh has begun the Round 2 registration process for NEET UG 2025 counselling for MBBS and BDS courses. Eligible candidates can register online through the official portal of DGME.
However, the DGME has clarified that seat allotment in Round 2 will remain subject to the ongoing proceedings and interim orders of the Allahabad High Court. The court is currently hearing petitions related to the state quota, reservation policy, and seat allocation rules in medical admissions.
Key Dates for Round 2 Counselling:
Registration and fee payment: September 12 to September 15, 2025.
Choice filling and locking: September 13 to September 16, 2025.
Seat allotment result: Expected to be declared in the third week of September.
Reporting to colleges: Candidates allotted seats must join their respective institutions within the notified deadline.
Who Can Apply:
Candidates who did not secure seats in Round 1.
Those allotted seats but did not take admission.
Fresh candidates who qualified NEET UG 2025 but missed Round 1 registration.
Candidates seeking an upgrade from Round 1.
HC’s Role in the Counselling Process
The Allahabad High Court is hearing multiple petitions concerning implementation of state reservation rules and domicile eligibility for state quota seats. The DGME has stated that the final admission process will strictly follow the court’s directions, and candidates should be prepared for possible modifications in seat allotments depending on the verdict.
Advisory for Candidates
Students already admitted under the All India Quota (AIQ) or in other state counselling must withdraw before participating in UP’s Round 2.
Candidates are advised to carefully monitor both the DGME website and court updates to avoid confusion during the admission process.
The ongoing court proceedings have added a layer of uncertainty for aspirants, but the DGME’s decision to open registrations ensures that the counselling schedule moves forward without major delays.
