A NEET-UG 2025 aspirant in Kerala has been taken into custody for allegedly attempting to appear for the exam using a fake admit card. The incident occurred in Thiruvananthapuram district, where the student claimed to have received the counterfeit hall ticket via WhatsApp from an Akshaya Centre operator.

Details of the Incident

The student reportedly downloaded and printed the admit card sent through WhatsApp by a staff member of an Akshaya Centre in Neyyattinkara. He brought this document to the examination centre on May 4. However, invigilators noticed discrepancies in the name, address, and exam centre details just before the exam commenced. Upon further verification, it was confirmed that the document had been tampered with, using another candidate’s original hall ticket as a base.

Legal Action and Investigation

Following a complaint from the exam coordinator, the student was detained by the police. An FIR has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway. Authorities are probing the role of the Akshaya Centre staff member who allegedly facilitated the creation and distribution of the fake admit card.

Broader Context

This incident adds to the concerns surrounding the integrity of the NEET-UG examination process. In the days leading up to the exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had flagged over 120 social media accounts for spreading false information and claims of paper leaks. The agency has been actively working to curb misinformation and ensure a fair examination process.

The use of fake admit cards not only undermines the sanctity of the examination but also poses significant challenges to the authorities in maintaining the credibility of the selection process. The ongoing investigation in Kerala is expected to shed more light on the mechanisms employed in such fraudulent activities and help in implementing stricter measures to prevent future occurrences.
