NEET UG 2025: NTA’s 5 new rules, changes for medical entrance exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced several significant changes to the NEET UG 2025 exam pattern and guidelines. Here are the key updates:
1. Exam Pattern Revisions:
- Removal of Section B: The exam will no longer include Section B, which previously offered optional questions. All candidates must now answer all questions in each subject.
- Subject-wise Question Distribution:
- Physics: 45 questions
- Chemistry: 45 questions
- Biology (Botany and Zoology): 90 questions
This brings the total number of questions to 180, with each question carrying 4 marks.
- Exam Duration: The total exam duration has been reduced to 3 hours, down from the previous 3 hours and 20 minutes. This change is due to the removal of optional questions.
2. Exam Mode and Schedule:
- Offline Mode: The NEET UG 2025 will continue to be conducted in pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based), held on a single day and in a single shift.
- Exam Date: The NEET UG 2025 exam is scheduled for May 4, 2025.
3. Syllabus and Eligibility:
- Syllabus: The exam syllabus remains unchanged and is based on the NCERT curriculum for Classes 11 and 12.
- Eligibility: Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in Classes 11 and 12 are eligible to appear for the exam.
4. Application Process:
- Registration: The NEET UG 2025 application process is currently open. Candidates can register and submit their applications through the official NEET website.
5. Security Measures:
- Enhanced Security: The NTA has implemented new security measures to ensure a fair and transparent examination process, addressing concerns from previous years.
