NEET UG 2025: New tie-breaking rule, independent expert panel to resolve through ‘random process’

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a new tie-breaking policy for NEET UG 2025. In cases where two or more candidates achieve identical scores, an independent expert panel will resolve the tie through a random process. This approach aims to ensure fairness and transparency in ranking candidates with equal marks.
This change is part of broader reforms recommended by a seven-member expert panel established to enhance the NEET-UG examination process. The panel’s suggestions include conducting the exam in multiple sessions and implementing a computer-assisted pen-and-paper format to minimize risks such as question paper leaks. The government has committed to implementing these recommendations to improve the examination’s integrity and transparency.
For the most current and detailed information, candidates are advised to regularly check the official NTA NEET website: neet.nta.nic.in.
