Punjab NEET UG 2025: 7 Candidates Disqualified for Violating State Quota Rule; Choice Filling Begins
The Punjab NEET UG 2025 counselling process has entered a crucial stage, with authorities disqualifying seven candidates for violating the state’s domicile and quota eligibility rules. The Punjab Medical Education Department confirmed that these candidates had submitted incomplete or incorrect documents related to their Punjab residency status, which is mandatory for claiming admission under the 85% state quota seats.
Officials clarified that strict verification measures were adopted this year to prevent misuse of the quota system and to ensure that only genuine domicile candidates are considered under the state quota category. The disqualified students, despite qualifying in NEET UG 2025, will now be considered ineligible for admission to Punjab’s state-quota MBBS and BDS seats.
Meanwhile, the choice-filling process for eligible candidates has officially begun on the counselling portal. Registered aspirants can now log in, prioritize their preferred medical and dental colleges, and lock their choices within the given deadline. Authorities have urged students to exercise caution while filling choices, as no changes will be allowed once the final submission is made.
The counselling committee has also reminded candidates to ensure timely submission of required certificates, including domicile proof, category certificates, and educational documents. Failure to comply with verification requirements may result in rejection of candidature.
Punjab has a total of government and private medical colleges, offering MBBS and BDS seats under state quota, management quota, and NRI quota. With thousands of aspirants competing for limited seats, the disqualification notice has sent a strong message about transparency and strict compliance in the admission process.
The seat allotment results for this round are expected to be announced soon after the completion of the choice-filling window.
