NIRF Ranking 2025 Law: NLSIU Bangalore still the best; NLU Delhi, NALSAR Hyderabad retain 2nd, 3rd spot
The Ministry of Education has released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 rankings, and in the Law category, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has once again secured the top position, cementing its status as the premier law institute in the country.
The National Law University (NLU), Delhi, retained its second spot, while NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, maintained its strong presence at third place. These three institutions have consistently dominated the NIRF Law rankings over the years, owing to their academic excellence, faculty quality, and strong placement records.
Other law universities in the top 10 include West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, and National Law University, Jodhpur, which have continued to showcase their academic and research strengths.
Key Highlights of NIRF Law Ranking 2025
NLSIU Bengaluru: Number 1 for several years, known for its rigorous curriculum, research ecosystem, and high-profile alumni.
NLU Delhi: Consistently ranked 2nd, with strong focus on public policy, litigation, and international collaborations.
NALSAR Hyderabad: Retains 3rd spot with its blend of academic innovation and leadership in legal education.
WBNUJS Kolkata & NLU Jodhpur: Maintain their standing among the country’s top legal institutions.
The rankings are based on parameters such as Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research & Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach & Inclusivity (OI), and Perception (PR).
With the legal profession in India becoming increasingly competitive, the NIRF 2025 law rankings highlight how premier NLUs and other top universities continue to play a vital role in shaping the country’s legal landscape.
