The Ministry of Education has released the NIRF India Rankings 2025, and in the Management category, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai has successfully retained its 6th position for the second year in a row.

Formerly known as NITIE Mumbai, the institute was conferred the IIM status in August 2023, becoming the 21st IIM in the country. Since then, IIM Mumbai has emerged as a strong player in the management education landscape, climbing steadily in perception, research output, and academic excellence.

Key Highlights of IIM Mumbai in NIRF 2025

• Rank: 6th in Management category, same as 2024.

• Strengths: Known for its focus on supply chain management, operations, and analytics, IIM Mumbai has consistently attracted top recruiters and industry leaders.

• Placements: The institute continues to record impressive placements, with global companies hiring in consulting, e-commerce, FMCG, finance, and technology sectors.

• Research & Innovation: A growing emphasis on research, publications, and industry collaborations has strengthened its position in the rankings.

The NIRF Management Top 5 (2025)

While IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta retained their traditional dominance in the top three slots, IIM Mumbai’s presence in the top 10 for consecutive years reflects its rising stature as one of the most sought-after business schools in India.

The rankings are based on parameters such as Teaching & Learning Resources (TLR), Research & Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach & Inclusivity (OI), and Perception (PR).

With its consistent performance, IIM Mumbai is steadily solidifying its reputation among India’s elite B-schools and is expected to continue challenging the older IIMs in the coming years.
