MCC Extends NEET UG 2025 Round 3 Choice Filling Deadline to October 18 After NMC Corrects Seat Matrix Error
In a major development for thousands of medical aspirants across India, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the Round 3 choice-filling deadline for NEET UG 2025 counselling to October 18, 2025. The extension comes after the National Medical Commission (NMC) revised the seat matrix to correct discrepancies found in earlier data.
Reason for the Extension
The MCC’s decision follows a series of data-related issues in the seat matrix. During Round 2, certain colleges reportedly submitted incorrect seat data — in one instance, a government medical college had uploaded nearly double the actual number of seats available. This error led to several incorrect allotments and compelled MCC to withdraw and revise the Round 2 results.
After receiving multiple complaints, the NMC intervened and conducted a review of the national seat matrix. Following the correction, approximately 9,000 new MBBS seats were added across medical colleges in India, while a few were removed due to administrative or legal reasons.
Given the significant change in seat availability, MCC extended the choice-filling window so that candidates could make well-informed selections based on the revised data.
