New Delhi, June 1, 2026: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will commence the registration and choice-filling process for JoSAA Counselling 2026 from June 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST. Candidates who have qualified in JEE Main 2026 and JEE Advanced 2026 will be able to participate in the centralized counselling process for admission to premier engineering institutions across India.

The counselling process facilitates admissions to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, IIEST Shibpur, and several Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) through a single online platform.

Registration and Choice Filling Schedule

According to the official JoSAA 2026 schedule, candidates can begin filling their preferred institutes and branches from June 2, 2026 (5 PM). The choice-filling window will remain open until June 11, 2026 (5 PM). During this period, students can add, modify, rearrange, and lock their choices before the deadline.

Candidates qualifying in the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) will be allowed to fill AAT-specific choices after the declaration of AAT results from June 7, 2026.

Mock Seat Allocation to Help Students

To help candidates understand their admission prospects based on their submitted preferences, JoSAA will release two mock seat allocations:

• Mock Seat Allocation 1: June 8, 2026, at 2 PM
• Mock Seat Allocation 2: June 10, 2026, at 1 PM

Students can revise their preferences after reviewing the mock allotment results before the final choice-locking deadline.

Seat Acceptance Fee Payment Starts Alongside Registration

JoSAA has also introduced the facility for pre-payment of the seat acceptance fee and pre-uploading of documents from June 2 itself. The facility will remain available until the end of the registration and choice-filling period on June 11.

NIT+, IIITs and GFTIs

The counselling process for the NIT+ system will continue after Round 5, followed by participation in the CSAB admission process for vacant seats. Candidates allotted seats in the NIT+ system will be required to pay the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) between July 22 and July 24, 2026.

Withdrawal and Exit Options

Candidates who wish to withdraw from the counselling process will be able to exercise the withdrawal option during specified windows after Rounds 2, 3, 4, and 5. JoSAA has provided dedicated timelines for seat withdrawal and response to withdrawal-related queries.

• Carefully analyze previous years’ opening and closing ranks.
• Fill the maximum possible choices in order of preference.
• Use both mock allotment rounds to fine-tune choices.
