BITSAT 2026 FAQs: BITS Pilani Answers Queries on Eligibility, PCB Restrictions; Registration Begins

    BITSAT

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani has released the official FAQs for BITSAT 2026, addressing key doubts related to eligibility criteria, subject combinations, PCB-related restrictions, exam sessions, and the admission process. The FAQs aim to bring clarity for aspirants planning to apply for undergraduate programmes across BITS Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses.

    Registration and Exam Schedule

The BITSAT 2026 registration process begins on December 15, 2025. Candidates can apply for Session 1 or both sessions during the initial application window. The computer-based test will be conducted in two phases:

    • Session 1: April 15 to April 17, 2026

    • Session 2: May 24 to May 26, 2026

Candidates are allowed to appear in one or both sessions, and the best score obtained will be considered for admission.

    Eligibility Criteria Explained

BITS Pilani has reiterated the academic requirements for BITSAT 2026 through its FAQs:

    • Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board.

    • Subject Combination: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB).

    • Minimum Marks: At least 75% aggregate marks in PCM/PCB with a minimum of 60% in each subject individually.

    PCB Restriction Clarified

One of the most important clarifications relates to students from the PCB stream:

    • Candidates with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12 are eligible to appear for BITSAT, but only for the B.Pharm programme.

    • PCB candidates are not eligible for B.E. or M.Sc. programmes, which require Mathematics as a compulsory subject.

    On the other hand:

    • Candidates with PCM are eligible to apply for all first-degree programmes, including B.E., M.Sc., and B.Pharm.

    Other Important Points from FAQs

    • Single Application for All Campuses: Candidates do not need to apply separately for Pilani, Goa, or Hyderabad campuses.

    • No Rounding Off of Marks: Eligibility percentages must be met exactly; rounding up of marks is not permitted.

    • Session 2-Only Application: Candidates who miss the first phase will get an opportunity to apply later exclusively for Session 2.

    Who Can Apply

    BITSAT 2026 is open to:

    • Students appearing for Class 12 in 2026 or those who passed in 2025.

    • Aspirants seeking admission to B.E., B.Pharm, or M.Sc. programmes at BITS campuses.

    Application Process

The application process is completely online. Candidates must fill in personal, academic, and exam preference details and pay the prescribed application fee within the deadline to be eligible for their chosen session(s).

    What This Means for Aspirants

The release of the BITSAT 2026 FAQs provides early and much-needed clarity, especially for PCB students regarding programme eligibility. With registration beginning in mid-December, aspirants are advised to carefully review eligibility norms and subject requirements before applying to avoid disqualification at later stages.
