NEET UG 2025: Supreme Court Dismisses Candidate’s Plea Alleging OMR Sheet Tampering

The Supreme Court of India has dismissed a plea filed by a NEET UG 2025 candidate who alleged that their OMR answer sheet was tampered with during the evaluation process. The candidate had sought re-evaluation of the OMR sheet, claiming discrepancies between the answers they marked and those reflected in the scanned copy provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
A bench comprising Justices [names, if available from official update] observed that the NTA’s system is transparent and secure, with scanned copies of OMR sheets being uploaded on the official website for students to cross-check. The court further noted that the evaluation process has multiple levels of verification, making the allegation of tampering unsubstantiated.
Court’s Observations:
No evidence of tampering was presented by the petitioner.
The NTA’s mechanism of uploading OMR sheets ensures transparency.
Re-evaluation of OMR sheets is not permitted under the NEET examination rules.
Background
The NEET UG 2025 exam, conducted by the NTA, witnessed participation from over 24 lakh candidates across India. Soon after the results were declared, some candidates raised concerns about discrepancies in their OMR sheets and scorecards. While most grievances were addressed by the NTA through its official grievance redressal system, a few candidates approached the courts.
The Supreme Court’s dismissal of the plea reinforces the finality of NEET UG 2025 results and sends a clear message that unsupported claims of tampering will not be entertained.
