Karnataka NEET UG 2025 Counselling: KEA Opens Seat Cancellation for Candidates Holding AIQ Seats
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced a new facility for NEET UG 2025 counselling candidates who have secured seats both under Karnataka’s state quota (KEA seats) and the All India Quota (AIQ). Candidates in such a situation can relinquish (cancel) their KEA-allocated seats through a new portal called the QUIT Portal.
Key Highlights & Timeline
The QUIT Portal is open for one day only, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM today. Eligible candidates must submit their seat cancellation request within this window.
Candidates who had already reported to the colleges in Round 1 but now wish to cancel their KEA seat must physically go to the KEA office with the required documents before 5:00 PM today.
This option is specifically for those who want to continue with the AIQ seat, i.e. they prefer the All India Quota allotment over the state quota/KEA allotment.
Next Steps & Counselling Schedule
KEA will declare the final seat allotment result for Round 2 (medical and dental courses) and Round 3 (AYUSH courses) on September 23, 2025.
Once a candidate is allotted a seat, they will have to pay the course fee and download the confirmation slip between September 23 and 26, 2025.
Reporting to the allotted college for document verification and admission formalities must be completed by 5:30 PM on September 28, 2025.
Implications for Students
This seat-cancellation facility gives relief to students who opted for both KEA state seats and AIQ seats, allowing them to avoid holding two seats and thereby freeing up state quota seats for others.
It ensures flexibility—candidates who get AIQ seats won’t lose out due to earlier state quota allotments.
However, missing today’s deadline means losing the opportunity to cancel KEA seats under this provision.
