JEE Advanced 2025: IIT Kanpur asks BTech dropouts to submit 3 documents for third attempt
In November 2024, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) initially announced an extension allowing candidates three attempts at the JEE Advanced examination. However, this decision was reversed on November 18, 2024, reinstating the previous policy of two attempts. This reversal affected many students who had already altered their academic plans based on the initial announcement.
In response to the challenges faced by these students, the Supreme Court directed IIT Kanpur to permit a third attempt for candidates who discontinued their B.Tech studies between November 5 and 18, 2024. To be eligible for this third attempt in JEE Advanced 2025, these candidates are required to submit the following documents:
- Proof of Admission: A document verifying their enrollment in a B.Tech program during the specified period.
- Proof of Discontinuation: Official documentation confirming that they withdrew from the B.Tech program between November 5 and 18, 2024.
- Class 12 Certificate: A certificate indicating that they passed their Class 12 examination in 2023, 2024, or 2025.
These measures aim to accommodate students who made significant decisions based on the initial policy change. All other candidates must adhere to the standard eligibility criteria, which limit attempts to two consecutive years.
For comprehensive details and updates, candidates are advised to consult the official JEE Advanced 2025 Information Brochure available on the official website.
