The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has announced the third edition of its flagship summer program, PRAYAS 3.0, a one-month residential course focusing on Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). Scheduled to commence on June 16, 2025, the program aims to provide participants with hands-on experience in emerging technologies.

Program Overview:

• Duration: June 16 – July 16, 2025

• Mode: Offline, residential at IIT Mandi campus

• Eligibility: Open to school, undergraduate, and postgraduate students from engineering and science disciplines

• Fee: ₹62,400 (inclusive of accommodation and meals)

• Certification: Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion

Curriculum Highlights:

The program is structured into four weeks, each focusing on different aspects:

1. Week 1: Introduction to Robotics, AI, and IoT

   • Basics of embedded systems and Arduino programming

   • IoT architecture and communication protocols

   • Hands-on projects like LED control via web dashboard

2. Week 2: AI and Machine Learning for Robotics

   • Computer vision and object detection using OpenCV

   • Training simple ML models for gesture recognition

   • Implementing Edge AI on devices like Raspberry Pi

3. Week 3: IoT for Robotics & Cloud Integration

   • Communication between robots using MQTT and WebSockets

   • Cloud platforms for IoT like AWS, Google IoT, Azure

   • Controlling robotic arms via IoT dashboards

4. Week 4: Advanced Robotics & Future Trends

   • Swarm robotics and multi-agent systems

   • Human-robot interaction and natural language processing

   • Final project: Building an AI-powered IoT-enabled robot

Participants will also engage in yoga and sports sessions to ensure a holistic learning experience.

Mentorship and Facilities:

The program will be conducted by esteemed faculty members from IIT Mandi’s School of Computing & Electrical Engineering, School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and School of Management. Participants will have access to state-of-the-art labs and lecture halls, and will reside in IIT Mandi hostels with meals provided at the campus mess.
