Fewer CUET UG 2025 exam cities, shorter subject list, 2 more universities; changes this year

    CUET

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced several significant changes to the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET UG) 2025 to streamline the examination process and enhance its efficiency.

Key Changes in CUET UG 2025:

    1. Reduction in Exam Cities:

      • The number of exam cities has been reduced to 379 within India and 26 outside India, aiming to optimize resource allocation and improve the examination process.
    2. Shortened Subject List:

      • The total number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37. This includes 13 languages, 23 domain subjects, and the General Aptitude Test. Subjects such as Fashion Studies, Tourism Studies, Legal Studies, Teaching Aptitude, Entrepreneurship, and Engineering Graphics have been removed. Additionally, 20 foreign languages have been eliminated from the test.
    3. Addition of Universities:

      • Two more universities have joined the list of participating institutions, increasing the total number of universities accepting CUET scores for admissions.

    Other Notable Changes:

    • Exam Mode: The exam will be conducted exclusively in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
    • Exam Duration: Each test will have a uniform duration of 60 minutes.
    • Subject Selection Flexibility: Candidates can now choose subjects irrespective of their Class 12 subjects, providing greater flexibility in aligning with their desired undergraduate programs.
    • Number of Subject Choices: Applicants can select up to five subjects, reduced from six in previous years.
    • Question Format: All questions are now compulsory, eliminating the previous provision for optional questions.

These changes aim to create a more streamlined and efficient examination process, addressing logistical challenges faced in previous years and providing candidates with greater flexibility in their subject choices.

Candidates are advised to review these updates carefully and consult the official CUET information bulletin for detailed information on the application process, exam pattern, syllabus, and participating universities.
