DU UG Admissions 2025: 68,116 seats confirmed; spot round opens August 27

    Delhi

The University of Delhi (DU) has successfully completed the upgradation round of undergraduate (UG) admissions for the academic year 2025-26. A total of 68,116 seats have been confirmed across DU’s colleges, marking significant progress in the centralised admission process.

    Seat confirmation status

DU officials stated that the upgradation round witnessed a large number of students either upgrading to their preferred course or college or freezing their allotted seats. The confirmation of over 68,000 seats indicates strong participation and higher preference stability among applicants this year.

Out of the nearly 71,000 total UG seats available in DU, a majority have now been filled. However, several seats are still lying vacant due to withdrawals, non-confirmations, or students opting for other institutions.

Spot round admission from August 27

To fill the remaining seats, the university has announced that the spot admission round will begin on August 27, 2025. The registration window for the spot round will open on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal, where candidates can submit fresh preferences.

Candidates who have already secured admission in earlier rounds but wish to upgrade will also be eligible to participate. However, DU has clarified that spot round seat allotments will be final and binding, with no option for withdrawal after confirmation.

    What students need to do

    • Check the DU admission portal for the list of available seats.

    • Register for the spot round starting August 27.

    • Fill fresh choices of courses and colleges before the deadline.

    • Once allotted, confirm the seat by paying the admission fee online.

    Officials’ statement

A DU admission committee member said, “With over 68,000 students already confirming their seats, this year’s admission process has been smooth and transparent. The spot round will help ensure that every seat in the university is optimally utilised.”

    Conclusion

With the spot round set to begin on August 27, aspirants still have a chance to secure a place in one of the most sought-after universities in India. Students are advised to keep track of the CSAS portal and adhere strictly to deadlines for a smooth admission process.
