The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has announced the launch of two new four-year full-time residential undergraduate programs—BSc (Hons) in Economics and BSc (Hons) in Data Sciences. The first batch will commence in August 2026, with registrations opening in September 2025.
These programs are being introduced under IIMB’s newly established School of Multidisciplinary Studies and were unveiled during a press conference held today. The event was graced by Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIMB, along with other key faculty members including Prof. P.D. Jose, Prof. Mukta Kulkarni, and Prof. Sourav Mukherji.
Each course will initially admit 40 students, bringing the total annual intake to 80 students. The BSc (Hons) in Economics will offer a minor in Data Science and Business, while the BSc (Hons) in Data Sciences will include a minor in Economics and Business.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Krishnan stated,
“Our vision is to nurture critical thinkers and problem solvers capable of driving positive change. To actualise this vision, we believe it is important to engage young learners early, and equip them with analytical, contextual, and ethical perspectives.”
Key Highlights:
Eligibility: Class 12 or equivalent with Mathematics and minimum 60% marks; Class 10 score must also be 60% or above
Age Limit: Maximum 20 years (General), 22 years (Reserved), as on August 1, 2025
Selection: National test followed by an interview
Annual Fee: ₹8.5 lakh
