Chennai, May 19, 2025 — The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has announced the introduction of two new undergraduate engineering programs for the academic session 2025–26. These programs are:

1. BTech in Computational Engineering and Mechanics (CEM)

2. BTech in Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering

Each program will have an intake capacity of 40 students and will be offered through the Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering.

Admissions to these programs will be through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025, followed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process.

Program Details

1. BTech in Computational Engineering and Mechanics (CEM)

This four-year program is designed to equip students with skills in digital engineering, focusing on the integration of physical systems with computational technologies and artificial intelligence. The curriculum combines classical engineering principles with modern computational tools to prepare graduates for complex, real-world engineering challenges.

2. BTech in Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering

This program aims to provide students with a strong foundation in instrumentation techniques and their applications in biomedical engineering. It emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, preparing students for careers at the intersection of engineering and healthcare technologies.

Both programs offer the option to upgrade to a five-year Dual Degree (BTech + MTech) through Interdisciplinary Dual Degree (IDDD) programs, coordinated by the Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering.

Candidates interested in these programs must qualify in JEE Advanced 2025. The JoSAA 2025 counselling registration for admission to BTech courses is expected to commence on June 3, 2025.
