The National Standard Examination in Junior Science, or NSEJS, is a science examination primarily for school students, usually conducted at the end of November. NSEJS is jointly organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers and the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). NSEJS is considered a globally challenging science exam. It has been conducted in English, Hindi, and some other Indian languages since 1987. More than 80,000 students participate from over 1500 centers in these Olympiads.

In this exam, approximately the top 300 students, based on the state-wise quota, are selected for the Indian National Junior Science Olympiad. The examination, consisting of theory and an objective paper, is conducted at the end of January. The top 35 students are then invited to an Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC), and the top 6 students are selected for the International Junior Science Olympiad.
