Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has refuted claims made by Congress leader Sam Pitroda regarding an objectionable video played during his webcast with their students. The institution stated that no official invitation was extended to Mr. Pitroda, rendering his allegations baseless.

This development follows a similar incident where Mr. Pitroda alleged that an inappropriate video was shown during his interaction with IIT Ranchi students, a claim that was subsequently dismissed by the central government.

Notably, Mr. Pitroda was scheduled to deliver a guest lecture during Cognizance 2025, IIT Roorkee’s annual technical festival, on February 1, 2025.

IIT Roorkee has a history of hosting distinguished speakers during its events, and Cognizance is one of the prominent technical festivals in India.

As of now, there is no official statement from Mr. Pitroda addressing IIT Roorkee’s refutation.
