NMC cautions against fake permission letter to 2 medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh

The NMC clarified that the letter to Meenakshi Medical College, Kanchipuram and Santhiram Medical College, Kurnool was not issued by MARB.

The National Medical Commission has clarified that the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has not issued letters for renewal and permission to increase MS seats for Meenakshi Medical College, Kanchipuram and Santhiram Medical College, Kurnool.

The commission said that a forged or fake letter has been issued to these two medical colleges in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. A fake letter dated May 1, 2023, was issued to Meenakshi Medical College, Kanchipuram for renewal of permission for MBBS course for 4th batch (3 renewal).

“The permission is valid for one year and for admitting only one batch of MBBS students against 250 MBBS seats during the academic year 2023-2024,” the letter read.

“Another three letters dated 1,2.07.2023 and 13.07.2023 were issued to Santhiram Medical College, Kurnool for increase of seats in MS- Ophthalmology for 5 to 10 seats, MD- General Medicine from 07 to 24 and MS- ENT for 01 to 04 seats,” the NMC informed.

It clarified that the letters were not issued by the member or President of MARB. “These letters are forged/fake and cannot be considered as valid permission form Medical Assessment and Rating Board, National Medical Commission,” it said.

“The above facts are brought to the notice of all concerned and the general public to not take any action based on the fake/forged letter. Appropriate action is being taken in the matter in accordance with the law,” it added.

The commission has warned several times in the past about the fake recognition letters and NEET allotment letters.
