The Ministry of Education will announce the much-awaited NIRF India Ranking 2025 today, September 4, covering 16 categories of higher education institutions. These include overall, universities, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, dental, agriculture, research, innovation, and architecture, among others. The rankings have emerged as the most trusted yardstick to identify the best colleges and universities in India.

Launched in 2015, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) evaluates institutions on multiple parameters such as teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. The framework plays a crucial role in helping students and parents identify the top universities in India 2025, along with the best engineering, management, and medical colleges.

In the NIRF Ranking 2024, IIT Madras retained the No. 1 position in the overall category for the sixth year in a row. IISc Bengaluru secured the top spot among universities and research institutions, while AIIMS New Delhi led the medical category. The management category was topped by IIM Ahmedabad, closely followed by IIM Bangalore.

The NIRF ranking categories 2025 are expected to witness close competition, with institutions striving to enhance their performance in research, innovation, and global outreach. The Education Ministry has also introduced new evaluation rules this year to bring more transparency and inclusivity into the process.

The rankings not only highlight the best colleges in India but also encourage institutions to continuously improve their infrastructure, faculty strength, and research contributions. For students, the NIRF rankings 2025 serve as a reliable guide in making informed choices about higher education.

The official announcement of the NIRF Rankings 2025 will be made later in the day by the Union Education Minister.
