The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced significant changes to the NEET UG 2025 examination. Here are the five major updates:

1. Revised Exam Pattern:

   • The optional Section B, introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been removed.
   • The exam will now consist of 180 mandatory questions: 45 each in Physics and Chemistry, and 90 in Biology.
   • The total duration is 180 minutes (3 hours).

2. Updated Tie-Breaking Criteria:

   • In cases where two or more candidates achieve identical scores, the following criteria will be applied sequentially:
     • Higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology).
     • Higher marks in Chemistry.
     • Higher marks in Physics.
     • Fewer incorrect answers across all subjects.
     • Fewer incorrect answers in Biology.
     • Fewer incorrect answers in Chemistry.
     • Fewer incorrect answers in Physics.
   • If a tie persists after these steps, an independent expert committee will determine the merit order through a random process.

3. Removal of Optional Questions:

   • The optional questions provided during the pandemic have been eliminated, reverting to the pre-COVID format.

4. No Additional Time:

   • The additional time previously allotted has been discontinued; candidates now have 3 hours to complete the exam.

5. Mandatory APAAR ID Removed:

   • The requirement for an APAAR ID during registration has been eliminated.

These changes aim to streamline the examination process and ensure a fair assessment for all candidates.
