NEET UG 2025 Counselling: MCC pushes round 2 counselling, extends round 1 resignation deadline to Sept 3

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced key changes to the NEET UG 2025 counselling timeline. The start of Round 2 has been postponed indefinitely, and the Round 1 seat resignation deadline has been extended to 5:00 PM on September 3, 2025, allowing students more flexibility in their decision-making.
Extension of Round 1 Resignation Deadline:
Originally set from August 21 to 25, the resignation window for Round 1 is now extended until September 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Students can rescind their allotted seat without losing their security deposit.
Candidates who have already joined a college and obtained a seat confirmation letter must physically visit the college to obtain a resignation letter. For those who haven’t received such confirmation, resignation is treated as a “free exit,” with no need to visit the college.
It is mandatory that the resignation letter be generated online through the MCC portal. Failure to do so will render the resignation null and void.
Round 2 Counselling Delayed:
Round 2, initially slated to begin on August 29, has been “delayed till further notice.” MCC is expected to release a revised schedule soon.
Support for PwBD Candidates:
To facilitate the counselling process for candidates with disabilities, MCC has activated the PwD portal. The new PwBD certificate issuance window is open until 12:00 Noon on September 9, 2025. This extension covers 13 new designated Disability Centres where candidates can visit to obtain the necessary certification per NMC norms.
What This Means for Candidates:
Opportunity for Reassessment: If students are unsure about the seat allotted in Round 1, they can resign without penalty until September 3 and await potential better options in Round 2.
Monitor MCC Website Closely: A revised counselling schedule is pending. Candidates should follow updates regularly for new dates and procedures.
Make Use of PwBD Facilities: PwD candidates have extended time and additional support, offering an opportunity to complete necessary certification smoothly.
Plan Accordingly: Rounds may extend into September; candidates should prepare documents and plan for any reporting deadlines that follow.
