MP NEET UG Counselling 2025: DME Adds 195 New MBBS Seats in Round 2 After NMC, Delhi HC Nod

    MP

In a major boost for medical aspirants, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh, has announced the addition of 195 new MBBS seats in the ongoing NEET UG Counselling 2025. The move comes after approvals from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and a go-ahead from the Delhi High Court.

    New Seats Added

The fresh seat approval primarily includes:

    • Government and private medical colleges that had recently sought seat expansion.

    • Institutions where infrastructure and faculty upgrades were completed, allowing NMC to grant additional intake capacity.

    • Colleges that had been awaiting regulatory clearance and judicial permission before participating in the seat matrix.

With these additions, the overall seat availability in Round 2 counselling has increased significantly, giving many candidates a better chance at securing MBBS admission within the state quota.

    Student Impact

    • Candidates who could not secure seats in Round 1 now stand a higher chance in the upgraded seat matrix.

    • Fresh registrations and upgradation options for Round 2 will reflect the newly added 195 seats.

    • Aspirants are advised to carefully recheck the seat allotment list and revise their choices before the closure of the option-filling window.

    Background

The decision follows weeks of uncertainty, as several colleges in Madhya Pradesh had applied for seat expansion but were awaiting clearance from the NMC. A recent petition in the Delhi High Court had also delayed the process, with the court directing the NMC to evaluate institutions based on compliance norms. Once the clearance was granted, DME acted swiftly to update the counselling portal.

    What’s Next?

    • The updated seat matrix for Round 2 will be published by DME shortly.

    • Allotments for these additional seats are expected to be completed along with the second-round results.

    • Students who have already joined seats in Round 1 but wish to upgrade can also benefit from the increased intake.

    Final Word

The inclusion of 195 additional MBBS seats in Madhya Pradesh has come as a relief for thousands of NEET UG aspirants struggling amid limited availability. With counselling now moving into Round 2, the focus shifts to timely allotments and ensuring that no seats go vacant in the academic year 2025–26.
