MCC Seat Matrix 2025: 2,000 MBBS seats in 17 AIIMS for NEET UG counselling

    AIIMS

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has released the provisional seat matrix for NEET‑UG 2025 counselling, including a key update for AIIMS.

    🔹 AIIMS Expansion: 17 Institutes, ~2,000 Seats

The MBBS seat matrix now includes approximately 2,000 seats across 17 AIIMS institutes nationwide—a significant boost in the All India Quota (AIQ) pool.

    🔹 MCC Seat Matrix Overview

In Round 1, MCC has made available 26,515 MBBS/BDS seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, central universities, deemed universities, ESIC, and government medical colleges under AIQ.
This is part of a larger matrix comprising approximately 1.15 lakh MBBS seats across ~775 colleges from 35 states and union territories, including central and state quotas.

    🔹 Counselling Schedule & Process

    • Round 1 registration for AIQ began on July 21, 2025

    • Choice filling is open until July 28

    • Seat allotment results will be declared by July 31

MCC will conduct four counselling rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. After these, remaining seats—if any—will be handed over to respective state counselling authorities.

🔹 PwBD Category: New Certification Guidelines

MCC has implemented new rules requiring candidates under the PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) category to obtain fresh disability certificates only from 16 designated centres. These certificates must include a detailed functional assessment for verification and eligibility.

🔹 Context: Growth in MBBS Capacity

India’s MBBS seat capacity has seen steady growth—from around 1.06 lakh to 1.15 lakh in 2025. This expansion includes the increase in AIIMS institutions, which now offer over 2,000 MBBS seats under the 15% AIQ.

📌 What NEET Aspirants Should Do

    • Register and fill choices on the official MCC portal before July 28.

    • Explore AIIMS options carefully based on your NEET score and seat availability.

    • PwBD candidates must ensure updated certification as per new guidelines.

    • Keep an eye on further rounds and state quota options as part of a strategic plan.
