PATTERN

  • The exam will be a pen-and-paper based examination.
  • All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
  • There will be three categories of questions in each subject.
  • Answers are to be marked (bubbled) by using only a blue/black ball-point pen on the OMR Answer Sheet.

 

QUESTION TYPES

Question Category 1

  • Only one option is correct.
  • Correct option will yield 1 (one) mark.
  • Incorrect option will yield -¼ (negative ¼) marks.
  • For any combination of more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -¼ (negative ¼) marks.
  • Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks.

 

Question Category 2

  • Only one option is correct.
  • Correct option will yield 2 (two) mark.
  • Incorrect option will yield -½ (negative ½) marks.
  • For any combination of more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -½ (negative ½) marks.
  • Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks.

 

Question Category 3

  • One or more options are correct.
  • Marking all correct options only will yield 2 (two) marks.
  • For any combination of answers containing one or more incorrect options, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and it will yield zero (0) mark.
  • For partially correct answers, i.e. when all correct options are not marked and also no incorrect option is marked, marks awarded = 2 X (no of correct options marked) / (total no of actually correct options).
  • Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks.

Eligiblity

FOR APPEARING IN THE WBJEE

CITIZENSHIP

  • Applicant must be a citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India.

 

QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

  • Candidates must have passed/ appearing in 2024 for the class 12th examination or its equivalent examination.

 

AGE

  • Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2024.
  • There is no upper age limit for appearing in WBJEE, though for admission to the degree level Marine Engineering Course, the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2024.

 

FOR ADMISSIONS

 

FOR ADMISSION TO ENGINEERING COURSES

  • Candidate must have passed the Qualifying Examination (10+2 examination) with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application / Technical Vocational Subject as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidate must have passed these three subjects individually.
  • Candidate must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in these three subjects taken together.
  • Candidate must also have passed English in the Qualifying Examination with at least 30% marks.
  • Candidates must satisfy additional eligibility requirements for admission to Jadavpur University, read more here.
  • For the Marine Engineering course, candidates must secure a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics taken together and a minimum of 50% marks in English.

 

DOMICILE OF WEST BENGAL

 

DOMICILE REQUIREMENT

There is no particular Residential/Domicile requirement to appear in the WBJEE. The candidate must be a domicile of West Bengal for the following cases:

  • For admission to any Government aided Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy Colleges of the State.
  • For Admission to any Reserved category of seats in any institute.
  • For Admission to 90% of the General category seats at Jadavpur University.
  • For Admission at Aliah University for all seats.

DOMICILE ELIGIBILITY

Candidates will be treated as a domicile of West Bengal if one fulfills any of the following criterion:

  • Candidates residing in West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 years as on December 31, 2023 (Pro forma A1 or A2 required).
  • Candidates whose parent(s) is/are permanent resident(s) of West Bengal having permanent address within the State of West Bengal (Pro forma B or Residential proof required).

Procedure

  • REGISTRATION

    • The registrations for WBJEE 2024 examination are expected to begin in the last week of December 2023.
    • The last date to apply is yet to be announced.

    APPLICATION PROCEDURE

    STEPS

    1. Candidates need to visit the WBJEE website and register by furnishing all the required details in the Online Application.
    2. Upload the scanned image of your recent colour photograph and signature (in JPG format).
    3. Pay the Examination Fee online using Net Banking/Debit/Credit card.
    4. A confirmation page will be generated which means that the candidate has been successfully registered.
    5. The candidate should take a printout and preserve the confirmation page for future reference.

    NOTE

    • Candidate is required to produce a copy of the same photograph as uploaded online for entering the examination centre and later during counseling.

     

    APPLICATION CORRECTION

    • Candidates will be provided a facility to make corrections in their application form particulars.
    • It is a one-time facility and is extended to the candidates to avoid any hardship to them.
    • Candidates will be able to correct the data filled in the application form except any primary registration data namely Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s name, Gender, Domicile, and Date of birth.
    • The correction window will be open for a few days after the last date of registration.

    NOTE

    • Allocation of examination centre will be based on the choices given by the candidate during the online form fill-up.
    • Candidates from West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura must select any three zones in order of preference.
    • Candidates from states other than West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura must select any three zones from Kolkata, Howrah, and Paschim Burdwan in order of preference.
    • No request for change of allocated centre will be entertained under normal circumstances.

     

    ADMIT CARD

    • Admit cards are expected to be generated for the students to download and print after it’s announced.
    • A printed copy of the downloaded admit card should be produced at the time of examination.

     

    ANSWER KEYS

    • The Model Answer Keys will be published shortly after the examination.
    • Challenges of the model answer keys will be accepted online through WBJEE portal on payment of ₹500 per question plus the bank’s service charges. The fee once paid is non-refundable.
    • The Board will review the challenges and publish the final and frozen Answer Keys.
    • Also, the images of OMRs and machine-read responses will be uploaded on the WBJEE website two to three weeks after the examination. Candidates can view their OMR images and machine-read responses.
    • Candidates who are not satisfied with the captured responses can challenge online through the WBJEE portal on payment of ₹500 per question plus the bank’s service charges. The fee once paid is non-refundable.

Result

  • The final result will be published in the form of a Rank Card, which will contain all relevant ranks, total score and component scores in Paper-I (Mathematics) and Paper-II (Physics and Chemistry).
  • Rank card with scores will be issued to all the candidates who appeared in the examination.
  • Rank will be allotted only to those candidates who clear a cut-off score decided by the WBJEE board.

 

COUNSELLING

  • A list of General Merit Rank (GMR) shall be prepared based on the total score obtained in Paper-I and Paper-II taken together.
  • Counselling/allotment of seats will be done on the basis of General Merit Rank (GMR) through WBJEE counselling.
  • A separate notification with details of e-counseling/seat allotment and admission will be published on WBJEE website shortly after the publication of the result.
  • Seats are available for student’s merit listed in JEE (Main) 2024 up to the extent of 10% of the approved seats in all Self-Financed Engineering and Technology Colleges of West Bengal.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Candidates are advised to enter the examination centres at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the test.
  • Candidates must bring a printed copy of the downloaded Admit Card, One copy of the photograph same as uploaded in the Application, any photo Identity card, and a Black/ Blue Ball Point Pen.
  • Written or printed material, calculator, pen, log table, wristwatch, any communication device like mobile phones etc. are not allowed in the Examination Hall.
