AILET 2026

OVERVIEW

AILET is a law entrance exam conducted by the National Law University, Delhi, for admissions to its prestigious B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program, which is regarded as one of the top National Law Universities in the country.

  • AILET 2026 is rescheduled from December 7 to 14, 2025, with the same exam timing as 2-4 PM. 
  • As per the new AILET Exam Pattern, the exam will be conducted for 120 minutes.
  • 15,000+ law students take this prestigious exam & that number is ever-growing, soon to reach 20,000+.
  • NLU Delhi launched a B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) course in 2024, but they withdrew for the time being.

Eligiblity

AILET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The AILET eligibility criteria are primarily based on two factors:

Educational Qualification

AILET  is open to all applicants who have passed the 10+2 or an equivalent examination. The minimum marks required for each category are as follows:

  • Minimum of 45% marks in class 12th for General/ Other Backward Class (OBC)/ Specially abled person categories.
  • Minimum of 40% marks class 12th for Scheduled Class (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.

Note: Candidates who have passed their qualifying examinations(10+2 or equivalent examination) can also apply and take AILET. However, such applicants’ eligibility must be achieved before the cut-off date, which will be published together with the Notification of Entrance Test Result, and if such candidate is put in a compartment during the year of admission, they will be considered ineligible.

Age Limit

AILET doesn’t have an age limit. As long as you meet the eligibility you can give the exam.

AILET 2026 Syllabus

AILET 2026 shall be conducted in offline mode, where the paper will have 150 questions from three(3) different subjects, including:

  • English Language   (50 questions; 50 marks)
  • Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions; 30 marks)

AILET 2026 Exam Pattern

In the notification release, NLU Delhi didn’t mention any change in the AILET paper pattern, indicating that it is likely to remain the same as in the past years.

The AILET Exam Pattern for B.A.LL.B (Hons.) program has three (3) sections of 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks in total. The duration of the examination is 120 minutes.

The three sections are:

  • Section A: English Language (50 questions; 50 marks).
  • Section B: Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions; 30 marks)
  • Section C: Logical Reasoning (70 questions; 70 marks)

Legal principles may be used in the logical reasoning section to test logical aptitude, but the examination does not require more than basic knowledge of legal concepts

Marking Scheme and Selection Criteria
  • Negative Marking: Each question in AILET carries 1 mark; 0.25 points will be deducted for each incorrect answer. As a result, four incorrect responses will result in a 1-mark reduction.
  • Selection Criteria: If two or more students receive the same score, then their merit will be determined by the better score in the Logical Reasoning component. If the merit remains the same, the older applicant will be given precedence. If there is still no change in merit, the automated draw of lots will be considered.

Procedure

AILET 2026: Application Process

As per the latest notification release, the registration form for AILET 2026 begins on August 14, 2025. Candidates can fill out the form by following the steps below.

The steps to apply are given below.

  • Step 1: Visit the official AILET (NLU Delhi) website at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in
  • Step 2: Then click on the ‘Register’ tab.
  • Step 3: Candidates will be sent to the AILET registration form, where they must input basic information such as their name, email address, contact number, and other data.
  • Step 4: After you’ve filled out all of the fields, click the submit button.
  • Step 5: Upon successful registration, applicants will receive their registration number and password.

After that candidates can log in with their registered mobile number and password and proceed to fill out the AILET exam 2026 form.

Documents required

Given below is a list of documents that a student will need while applying for the exam.

  • Class 10th mark sheet and certificate
  • Mark sheet and certificate of Class 12th (if available)
  • Certificate and mark sheet of graduation (For LL.M. – if available)
  • Photograph in passport size with a white backdrop
  • Signature scanned
  • An email and a valid mobile number
  • Latest character certificate
  • Certificate of transfer
  • BPL certificate (if you are in the BPL category) (Max size – 2 MB)
  • Passport (if you are a Foreign National ) (Max size – 2 MB)
  • Relevant category certificate (for students from the SC, ST, OBC, and J&K categories)

AILET 2026: B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.)

NLU Delhi launched a five-year integrated undergraduate program: B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.). However, they withdrew the course due to administrative issues.

They may conduct it for the current year; however, there was no mention of it in the notification released on June 17 and July 22, 2025.

If they choose to offer this program for the batch of 2026-32, AILET 2026 will be the clearing examination to seek admission in the B. Com. LL.B. (Hons.) blended program that explores the intersections of business in the legal world.

 

AILET 2026 Admit Card

Candidates who register, submit the application form, and pay the fees will be able to download their AILET 2026 admit card 15 days before the exam date. The admit card is a required document for taking the test. It comprises information such as the roll number and exam center.

Steps to Download AILET Admit Card 2025

Once the admit card is out, candidates can download their AILET 2026 admit card by following the steps outlined below.

  • Step 1: Navigate to the NLUD official website.
  • Step 2: Click on the candidate login tab.
  • Step 3: Enter your registration ID and password to log in.
  • Step 4: Click on the AILET 2026 admit card download link on the candidate site.
  • Step 5: The AILET 2026 admit card will show on the screen.
  • Step 6: Examine all of the information on the admit card carefully.
  • Step 7: Download and print the AILET admit card for future reference.

AILET 2025 Exam Analysis

AILET 2025, which took place on 8th December 2024, had a comparatively easier LOD (Level of Difficulty) than previous years.

Result

How to check the AILET 2026 result?

The AILET 2026 results were announced on 12 December 2024 by the National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi). The AILET B.A. LL.B. and AILET LL.M. results will be released simultaneously on the university’s official website, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.

Candidates can also get their scorecards by entering into their registered account. The AILET scorecard 2025 will include information such as the candidates’ marks, all-India rank, category, and so on. Provisionally qualified candidates will be invited to the counseling, which will begin shortly after the results are announced.
