CSAB to conduct special round of counselling to fill 13.5k vacant seats
Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria as per JoSAA-2024 Business Rules can participate in the ‘CSAB 2024 Special Round Counselling’ for NIT+ System.
Mangaluru: The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)-2024 has announced a special round of counselling for the vacant seats in the NIT+ System. The registration will start on July 31.
After five rounds of counselling, a total of 13,500 seats are lying vacant in 31 NITS, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, 3 Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs), and 37 GFTIs (Central/State Govt Funded Technical Institutions), collectively called the NIT+ system this year.

The counselling was conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA 2024). Out of 42,200 seats available in the NIT+ System, about 41,000 were allotted to candidates until the final round (5th Round) of JoSAA counselling. About 28,700 candidates accepted the allotted seats.
NITK- Surathkal is entrusted to carry out the process this year. The official in-charge of the counselling said these vacant seats will be filled through the CSAB Special Round counselling, organised by NITK, Surathkal. There will be two special rounds of counselling to fill these vacant seats.
Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria as per JoSAA-2024 business rules can participate in the ‘CSAB 2024 Special Round Counselling’ for the NIT+ System.
The candidates who have participated in JoSAA 2024 and are willing to upgrade their seats, as well as fresh candidates meeting the eligibility criteria, can participate in the special round counselling.
All the eligible candidates should register afresh for the CSAB special rounds at the CSAB portal (https://csab.nic.in). The registration and choice filling for the ‘CSAB 2024 Special Round’ will start on July 31.
A total of 52 document verification centres (VCs) and help centres (HCs) have been established across the country to assist the CSAB-2024 counselling process.
A multilingual helpdesk (10 Indian languages) at CSAB headquarters at NITK Surathkal has also been established to facilitate the counselling process.
