Psychographic Society - CBSE Class 12 board exams 2025 to have 50% competency-based questions; no change in 10th

CBSE Board Exams 2025: There will be a 10% decrease in constructed response questions in Class 12 theory exams in the upcoming session.

There will be more competency-based questions in CBSE Class 12 board exams 2025 while the number of constructed response questions will decrease by 10 per cent as compared to last year. The Central Board of Secondary Education notified the changes in composition of question papers in the year-end board exams for Classes 9 to 12 for the academic session 2024-25.

The board made these changes to align the assessment process in CBSE board exams with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. In a letter to the school heads, CBSE said that it previously issued guidelines to align the evaluation in these classes with the new education policy by including more competency-based questions which assess application of concepts in real-life situations.

“Appropriately, the Board is continuing with aligning of the assessments and evaluation practices with NEP- 2020 for the academic session 2024-2025,” the letter read. However, there are no changes in the type of questions in CBSE Class 9 annual exams 2025 and Class 10 board exams 2025.
