Bihar NEET UG Counselling 2025: UGMAC Process Put on Hold; PG Dental Round 3 Admissions Begin

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) has temporarily suspended the Undergraduate Medical Admission Counselling (UGMAC) 2025 process. This decision was taken due to an ongoing dispute over the fee structure for seats in private medical colleges. The move will affect admissions to 85% of medical seats in the state under the state quota.
Why the Counselling Was Stopped
BCECEB had started the registration and choice-filling process for NEET UG 2025 from July 29, 2025, with a provision that 50% seats in private medical colleges would have the same fee structure as government medical colleges. Private institutions opposed the decision, and the matter reached the Patna High Court. On August 5, 2025, the High Court stayed the order, prompting the board to halt the counselling process.
Choice-Filling Date Extended for MCC Counselling
Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the choice-filling deadline for the first round of NEET UG 2025 counselling to August 9, 2025. Candidates can select their preferred colleges and courses through the MCC portal.
PG Dental (MDS) Round 3 Counselling Begins
BCECEB has also started the third round of counselling for Postgraduate Dental (MDS) admissions for both government and private dental colleges in the state. Candidates who missed earlier rounds can now apply online and fill their choices.
Advice for Students
Aspirants seeking admission to MBBS, BDS, or MDS courses in Bihar should regularly check the official BCECEB and MCC portals for updates to stay informed about changes in schedules and processes.
