BHU UG 1st Allotment 2025: ‘One Candidate, One Seat’ Rule Implemented; Missing Deadline Means No Admission

    BHU

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has released the first seat allotment list for undergraduate admissions for the 2025-26 academic session. This year, the university has implemented the ‘One Candidate, One Seat’ policy to ensure that more eligible students get a fair chance at admission.

Around 1.5 lakh applicants competed for 9,200 seats in this round. Candidates allotted seats must pay the admission fee by August 11, 2025. Failure to do so will result in the seat being passed to another candidate in the next round.

What is the ‘One Candidate, One Seat’ Formula?

Under this new rule, a candidate can lock a seat in only one course. Once the course is selected and the seat is locked, no changes are permitted. This prevents students from holding multiple seats across courses and ensures optimal utilisation of available seats.

    Cut-offs and Counselling Process

The cut-off list for Round 1 is available on the university’s official website. BHU will conduct four counselling rounds in total, after which the admission process will conclude. The second allotment list is expected to be released next week. The new academic session will begin on August 28, 2025.
