Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is conducted by VIT Vellore (also known as VIT University) for admission in Engineering Courses at VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT Andhra Pradesh & VIT Bhopal.

VITEEE 2025 Exam is expected to be conducted in April 2025. Application Form will be released in the first week of November 2024. It will be released through online mode.

 

Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) is a university level entrance examination. VIT University conducts entrance exam to provide admission into various UG Engineering degree courses.

Those interested candidates will be able to get admission into various UG courses at VIT. Admission will be given to the B.Tech courses in Vellore, Chennai, AP and Bhopal campuses. Candidates will have to fulfil the eligibility criteria below before filling out application form.

PATTERN

  • It is a Computer Based Test and candidates should do slot booking for Test.
  • The exam will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration.
  • There will be 5 subject sections namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English, and Aptitude.
  • All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) i.e. each question will have four choices, only one being the correct choice.
  • Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer.
  • There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.
  • The medium of Question paper will be English.

Eligiblity

  • Nationality: Candidate should be a Resident/ Non Resident Indian National/ OCI/ PIO Holder.
  • Age Limit: Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 2003 are eligible.
  • Qualifying Examination: Candidates should have either passed or shall be appearing in 2025 for the qualifying examination (Class 12).
  • Performance in Qualifying Examination: Candidates should have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths/Biology in class 12.
  • Relaxation for Reserved Categories: For SC/ST candidates and candidates from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh/ Arunachal Pradesh/ Assam/ Manipur/ Meghalaya/ Mizoram/ Nagaland/ Sikkim/ Tripura, the minimum aggregate marks in PCM/PCB should be 50%.

  • Exam Mode: The exam will be conducted through online (CBT) mode only.
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will be asked in the exam.

MOCK TEST

  • The official mock test is made available to the candidates appearing for VITEEE.
  • Candidates can take the Mock Test to understand the pattern of the computer-based test and make themselves familiar with the interface.
  • Mock test is for practice purpose only.

fees

VITEEE 2025 Application Fee is ₹1,350, and for test centers abroad, the fee is equivalent to USD 90 in INR.

Procedure

  • The registration for VITEEE 2025 has started.
  • The last date to register is March 31, 2025.

Application Procedure

Online Filling

  1. Visit the VITEEE website and click on “New user”.
  2. Furnish all the details in the Application Form.
  3. Pay the Examination Fee by Debit/Credit card or Net Banking.
  4. Upload scanned image of your passport size colour photograph and signature.
  5. Download the filled-in Application Form for future reference.

Note

  • The photograph for upload should be against a white/off-white background with a neutral expression, both ears visible, and no glare from spectacles.
  • Ensure the photo is clear, in JPEG format, and between 20 kB and 300 kB with dimensions of 300-400 px (width) x 400-550 px (height) for the upload.
  • The photo should have proper exposure, neither too dark nor too bright, and show only one face for the upload.
  • For the signature upload, draw a 6 cm x 2 cm rectangular box on A4 white paper, sign in dark blue/black pen within the box.
  • Scan and crop the signature in JPEG format to 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm using an image editor for the upload.
  • The signature file size should be between 20 kB and 300 kB for upload.

 

Application Correction

  • Candidates will be provided a facility to make corrections in their application form particulars.
  • The edit option will become available after the candidate has completed the application form, made the payment, and uploaded their photo and signature.
  • Candidates will be able to find the ‘Edit’ option on top of the screen at the application download stage. All particulars of their Online Application, except mobile number/email ID and correspondence address, can be edited.
  • Candidates can edit their online application contents up to the specified period.

 

Note

  • NRI candidates and candidates opting for Test centres outside India should pay USD 90 equivalent in INR.

 

Slot Booking

  • Candidates must reserve a test center, date, and time slot for the VITEEE examination via the VIT Online Test Booking System (OTBS).
  • To access the OTBS, candidates need their VITEEE application number and the password, which will be sent to the email address provided in the application form.
  • Candidates must first select their preferred Test City (matching the one on the application), followed by the test date and session (slot).
  • Slot booking is on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability of the selected date and time.
  • Once a slot is booked, it cannot be changed. Requests to alter the test city, date, time, or subject will not be entertained.
  • It is the candidate’s responsibility to book their slot within the given time. VIT will not be responsible for missed bookings.
  • The application fee is non-refundable if a candidate fails to book a slot or is absent from the exam.
  • A confirmation email, along with a confirmation slip, will be sent to the candidate’s registered email after the slot is booked.
  • The e-Admit card will be available for download from the OTBS portal 48 hours before the scheduled exam date.

 

Admit Card

  • Once candidates have booked their slot through the Online Test Booking System (OTBS), a booking confirmation slip will be generated. This slip confirms the test city, date, time, and subject, but it is not an e-Admit card.
  • The e-Admit card will be available for download from the OTBS portal 48 hours before the scheduled test date.
  • Please note that the e-Admit card will be auto-generated only for candidates who book their slot before the last date. For candidates who do not book a slot, it will be generated based on the information provided in the application form, subject to availability of slots.
  • The e-Admit card will include the test venue address, application number, candidate photograph, and the selected test date and time.
  • If there are any discrepancies in the e-Admit card, candidates must report them to VIT immediately.
  • A copy of the e-Admit card will also be emailed to the candidate’s registered email address.
  • Candidates are required to bring the printed e-Admit card and a valid photo ID to the test center.

Result

  • A rank list will be prepared based on the percentile obtained in VITEEE.
  • Final ranks are calculated with great precision, and there is no provision for re-ranking or re-totaling.
  • Raw scores and photocopies of answer sheets will not be provided to candidates.
  • VIT has the authority to withhold ranks or cancel the candidacy of candidates involved in impersonation or malpractice during the exam.
  • The results and counselling details will be available on the official VIT website.

Counselling

  • Admission will be based solely on the rank secured in VITEEE, conducted by VIT.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in the counselling process based on their VITEEE rank.
  • The counselling process is common for all VIT campuses and will be conducted in five phases. A non-refundable counselling fee of ₹5,900 is required to participate.
  • During counselling, candidates can select their preferred campus, programme, and fee category. Allotment will depend on rank, preferences, and availability.
  • Candidates with ranks up to 1 lakh are eligible for counselling at all four campuses: VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT Andhra Pradesh, VIT Bhopal. Candidates ranked above 1 lakh can attend counselling only for VIT Andhra Pradesh and VIT Bhopal campuses.
  • Candidates who miss their designated counselling phase may attend the next phase, but their available choices may be limited to what remains.
  • Once a campus, programme, and fee category are allotted, changes cannot be made. After fee payment, the provisional admission letter will be available in the portal.

 

Important Information

  • Candidates who attempt Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Aptitude, and English are eligible for B.Tech. programs in Bio-engineering, Biotechnology, CSE (Bioinformatics), CSE (Health Informatics), ECE (Biomedical Engineering), and Health Sciences & Technology.
  • Candidates must specify their selection of subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, Aptitude, and English) in the application form.
