    JEE Mains is one of our country’s most difficult engineering exams. It allows one to be eligible for admission to India’s top engineering colleges like IIT (only after JEE Advanced), NIT, and IIIT. However, the number of student participation is increasing yearly. This year, more than 13 Lakhs students registered for the exam and 11 Lakhs students appeared for the JEE Main Exam. Therefore, considering the competition students must keep note of other great engineering colleges to target for admission that provide good placements, great peer exposure, quality faculty, and other good amenities. Therefore, in the blog, we will discuss such college cutoffs,  placements, fees, and available B.Tech branches for undergraduates.

    1. Vellore Institute of Technology

    Vellore Institute of Technology is one of the good colleges that stands out the most in the NIRF Ranking for its placements and affordable fees. In 2024, the average package stands at 9.9 LPA and the highest package stands at 88 LPA. And more than 7500+ students get placement offers. The UG fees at VIT are around Rs. 1,73,000 to Rs. 1,95,000 annually. There are several programs and given below are the UG programs that are available at the main campus.

    2. Jadavpur University

    Jadavpur University is one of the oldest engineering colleges in the country. Since one of the oldest, it offers many UG programs within B.Tech branches. The college is at the top due to affordable fees for the 4-year programs. The 4-year fee is around Rs. 1,25,620 for the B.Tech programs. In 2023, almost 93% of the students were placed in campus placements with an average CTC of 11.08 LPA and the highest CTC of 84 LPA. Additionally, the average package at SRM Institute of Technology stands at 7.1 LPA in 2022 while the median package stands at 6 LPA and the highest package stands at 1 Crore.     Anna University is a leading engineering college in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. It is different from other colleges due to its solo focus on engineering programs only. But, only a few good B.Tech programs are available given below. Moreover, Anna University’s placement drive includes both UG and PG students. In 2023, the maximum package stands at 40 LPA, while the average placement stands at 8.54 LPA. On the other hand, the university didn’t officially release any details about fees after 2023.

    5. Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani

    BITS Pilani is a popular engineering college known for its flexible curriculum, entrepreneurial programs, MAANG companies placements, and wide collaborations throughout the country. BITS Pilani is also known for its high average and median placements which are around 20.7 LPA and 18.2 LPA in 2023. With more than 314 companies visiting the campus in 2023, almost 90% of the batch was placed. On the other hand, the annual fee structure for 2024-25 is around 7.7 Lakhs.

    6. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

    Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is gaining a lot of attention these days. Also, located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, the college is getting popular for its national collaborations, more placement opportunities, and non-engineering programs. Even in engineering program placements, the average salary stands at 9.2 LPA, and the highest salary stands at 56.95 LPA. In the revised fee structure, for Coimbatore, the annual fee is around 6 Lakhs. Below are the flagship programs under B.Tech.

    Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan is also a private university located in the city of Bhubaneshwar in Odisha. The college accepts students with JEE Main results for its UG engineering programs. The semester tuition fee is around Rs. 1,17,500 to Rs.1,52,500 for different B.Tech branches. In placement, the college only provided the highest salary which stands at 46 LPA.

    9. Delhi Technological University (DTU)

    Delhi Technological Univerity is also a renowned college in India, known largely for its superiority after IIT Delhi and NIT Delhi. It is because of its high cutoffs, off-campus placements, and peer pressure among Delhi’s young talent pool. Even in on-campus placements, the average package stands at 15.45 LPA and the highest stands at 85.30 LPA in 2024. However, it has also high-standard fees of around 9.8 Lakhs for its B.Tech programs.

    10. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

    The first college from Punjab in this list. Thapar University is also a good college if you need a backup plan to target good engineering colleges. The college majorly focuses on engineering with another focus on the MBA management program. The average placement in the engineering UG programs at Thapar University stands at 11.9 LPA and the highest CTC stands at 55.75 LPA, in addition to 83% of the batch placed in the placement drive. The fee for the 4-year B.Tech program is around 6.5 Lakhs.
