The Delhi High Court has refused to hear the plea of a student who was denied entry to the CUET UG 2025 exam after arriving six minutes late to the exam centre.
🚪 Gate Closure Rule Strictly Enforced
The student arrived at 8:36 AM, while the scheduled gate closing time was 8:30 AM. A bench of Justices Prathiba M. Singh and Rajneesh K. Gupta stated that the rules were clearly communicated in the admit card and official instructions, which advised candidates to report by 7:00 AM to avoid delays.
The court noted that granting an exception would undermine the integrity and uniformity of the examination process, which saw participation from more than 13.5 lakh students.
⚖️ What the Court Said
The court sympathized with the student’s situation but held that strict compliance with examination norms is essential.
Making exceptions, even by a few minutes, could lead to administrative chaos and legal complications.
It emphasized that fairness in national-level exams depends on applying rules uniformly to everyone.
🔍 CUET UG 2025: Broader Challenges
CUET UG 2025 has faced several challenges this year, including technical glitches and access delays at some centres.
On the second day of the exam, several students across Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir reported disruptions, but the National Testing Agency assured students that alternate arrangements would be made.
✅ Important Reminder for Students
Arrive well before time—ideally by 7:00 AM—even if gates close at 8:30 AM.
Always follow the admit card instructions carefully.
No entry is allowed after gate closure, regardless of the reason.
Keep a backup plan ready for other entrance exams in case of unforeseen circumstances.
This decision sets a clear precedent for strict adherence to exam regulations in competitive entrance tests. Students are advised to plan ahead, arrive early, and ensure they meet all requirements to avoid missing crucial exams.
