    IIT Mandi: The programme offers a dual-degree option with an MBA degree.

     

     

    The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has launched a new Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme in general engineering. The four-year programme will have a comprehensive exploration of various engineering disciplines including mechanical engineering, civil engineering, data science, and computer science in the first two years.

    Following this, students will have the opportunity to specialise their expertise in a sector of their interest. As per the institute, students can pursue options beyond IIT Mandi through partnerships with national and international institutions and industries. During the final two years, students will be allowed to choose a specialisation aligned with their career aspirations.

    IIT Mandi partnerships

    IIT Mandi has forged partnerships with institutions, offering a diverse range of specialisations. These include

    • Dalarna University, Sweden: Specialisations in energy engineering and information systems

    • Central Manufacturing Technology Institute, Bengaluru: Specialisation in manufacturing

    • National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Kangra: Specialisations in Fashion Design Technology, Product Design, and Animation

     

     

     

    IIT Mandi: Dual-degree option

    According to the official press release, students will have the option to pursue specialisations offered directly at IIT Mandi, including artificial intelligence and robotics, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, entrepreneurship, or e-mobility. The programme also offers a dual-degree option with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, to give students more career opportunities.

    Speaking about the future scope of the program, the programme coordinator of IIT Mandi, Satvasheel Ramesh Powar, said, “This initiative ensures that students participate in coursework relevant to current industry standards. The industry partners will deliver a few master classes and workshops during the BTech curriculum. The students will complete capstone projects in their seventh semester and internships with partnering companies in their eighth semester, ensuring a smooth transition from academic learning to professional practice.”
