NLU Odisha has consistently secured a place among the top law schools in India. In the India Today 2025 rankings, NLU Odisha was ranked 7th out of 76 law colleges nationally. According to the NIRF 2024 rankings, it holds the 26th position in the law category. The university has also featured prominently in other rankings, such as IIRF, where it was placed 20th in 2025. These rankings underscore NLU Odisha’s status as a leading destination for legal education and research in India.
Admission to UG law courses at NLU Odisha is strictly entrance-based. Direct admission without CLAT is not permitted. NLU admission process for BA LL.B (Hons) and BBA LL.B (Hons) programs is as follows.
For admission to 5-year LLB program at NLU Odisha, candidates needed to qualify CLAT exam, which was held on 1 December 2025. Counselling and seat allotment princess continued through June after that. For the three-year LL.B program, the application window ran from 13 February to 20 April 2025, and the entrance exam was conducted on 11 May 2025. NLU Odisha offers a five year-integrated B.A., BB.A LL.B programme that combines training in law with knowledge of the social sciences. The liberal arts component of the B.A.LL.B program includes five arts subjects (Political Science, Sociology, Economics, English and Mass Communication), which are supplemented by a range of law courses; and together they provide a broad-based multidisciplinary foundation to the curricula.
A candidate for admission to the B.A, LL.B (Hons.) Degree Course shall have:
Eligibility Criteria for Domicile Reservation: Candidates who have passed 12th class or equivalent examination from the state of Odisha and secured at least 60% marks (or its equivalent grade) in the said examination from any recognized College/University in the state of Odisha.
The total intake is 120 seats.

NLU Odisha cutoff is released annually after the CLAT results. It includes the minimum rank required for admission to its law programs. NLU Odisha cutoffs are published category-wise and course-wise, reflecting the opening and closing ranks for each round of counselling.
