All you need to know about RIEs: Admission, entrance exam, popular centres and placements
RIEs have been offering various programmes for the last 55 years. Through campus placement activity, the institutes also offer a chance to the young aspirants to get jobs at top organizations.
National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) conducts Common Entrance Examination (CEE) to offer admission to candidates in teaching courses provided at Prarambh and Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs) situated at Shillong, Ajmer, Bhopal, Mysuru and Bhubaneswar. RIE, previously known as Regional College of Education, is a constituent unit of the NCERT that has been offering various programmes for the last 55 years. The institutes also give an opportunity to the students to kickstart their career through campus placement activity. These institutes have a 100 per cent campus placement and merit students are also provided scholarship for 50 per cent of students and others are entitled to several other scholarship schemes. The campus is completely residential and all the students are offered accommodation in the campus.

Eligibility for each Course
B.Sc-B.Ed Course, M.Sc-B.Ed Course
Candidates looking for admission to Physical Science Group should pass with Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics and those seeking admission to Biological Science Group should pass Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in XII standard. Candidates should pass XII or any equivalent examination recognised by University/Board with no less than 50 per cent marks in aggregate of the qualifying examination. The qualifying test should be accepted by the affiliating universities of the RIEs.
B.Ed Course
Candidates with no less than 50 per cent marks in Bachelor’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science or Mathematics/or Master’s Degree in Science or Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Social Science/Humanities are eligible for admission to the programme.
BA-B.Ed Course
Candidates must have passed XII or equivalent examination in Commerce, Science or Arts stream with a minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate.
B.Ed-M.Ed (Integrated) Course
A postgraduate degree in humanity/social science/science from a recognised institution with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade.
How to join RIE?
Registration, offering the basic details, payment of examination fee and associated information submission need to be done online. Download the admit card by using login credentials. The candidates for common entrance examination have the choice to apply online only. The fee for the application is Rs 900 for General and OBC and Rs 450 for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
After updating the qualifying examination marks, results will be declared and overall rank list is produced RIE wise. After result is declared check the websites of individual RIEs chosen and waitlisted candidate and also the date of counseling. If you are in the selected list, you can join that particular RIE.
RIE CEE 2019 Process
Fill RIE CEE Application Form
Candidates need to fill the application form in the online mode on the official website of RIE Ajmer. After the form is duly-filled, candidates need to take a print out and send it to the address mentioned on the form. Candidates can pay the application fee both in the offline mode and online mode.
Download RIE CEE Admit Card
After the application form is submitted successfully, candidates can download the admit card from the official website of RIE Ajmer. Admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the exam center.
Appear for RIE CEE Exam
Now, candidates need to appear for RIE CEE at the chosen exam center. RIE CEE entrance exam contains 80 questions of 160 marks. Candidates need to finish the exam in two hours duration.
Check RIE CEE Result
Candidates can check their RIE CEE result 2019 on the official website of RIE Ajmer. Candidates qualifying for the teaching entrance exam will then be entitled to secure admission at NCERT RIE in their courses. Candidates can check their result on the official website for the teaching entrance exam by using their user credentials (user ID and password). The result will contain details for example candidate’s name, marks secured, roll number, qualifying status, etc.
Appear for RIE CEE Counseling
At last, candidates need to appear for the counseling session at their respective RIEs. In the counseling session, candidates will be allotted seats in their courses based on the merit.

Placements
Every year several schools visit the various campuses and recruit suitable students. The number of students placed through campus recruitment activity is growing each year. In the last couple of years, the institute has been able to provide 100 per cent campus placement to its students though some of them prefer to go for higher studies.
The organisations interested in recruiting write to the Principal by December and they are communicated in regards to the expectations of the institute and the dates of campus recruitment. The placement event is held in March every year.
