JEE Main 2026 Notification will be out in November 2025. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Mains in two sessions – January and April session.

Joint Entrance Examination – JEE (Main) is organised for admission into UG courses (B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.Plan). It is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced) which is also organised every year for entry into IITs.

Students must be known to JEE Main 2026 eligibility criteria before proceeding for exam registration. For admission into Engineering courses (B.E/ B.Tech), students must qualify JEE Main (Paper I) & for admission in Architecture & Planning (B.Arch/ B.Plan), JEE Main (Paper 2) should be qualified.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern

Mode of Exam: JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 & 2 will be held in CBT mode. However, drawing test of Paper 2 (Architecture) will be held offline (pen and paper mode).
Total Papers: For B.E./ B.Tech, paper 1 will be held. For B.Arch, Paper 2A & for B.Plan, Paper 2B will be held.
Choice Medium of Paper: The paper will be held in 13 languages – English, Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia, Telugu, Tamil & Urdu.
Type of Questions: Paper will have multiple choice questions (MCQs).
Time: For Paper 1 & Paper 2A& 2B, 3 hours will be allotted. For both Paper 2A & 2B together, time duration is 3 hours 30 minutes. Additional 20 minutes is given for PWD candidates for 1 hour exam.
Marking: For each correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded. -1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

Eligiblity

Qualifying Exam: Candidates who have passed 12^th or its equivalent in 2024, 2025 or appearing in 12^thin the year 2026 are only eligible for JEE Main 2026.
Age Limit: There is no age limit prescribed to apply. However, students need to fulfill age criteria prescribed by the institution in which they are taking admission.
Attempt Limit: No attempt limit is prescribed.
Nationality: Indian nationals as well as international applicants are eligible to apply. International applicants must obtain necessary marks as prescribed by AIU to appear for JEE Main.
State Code of Eligibility: Applicants are required to choose state code of eligibility from which they have passed their 12th level.
- Also, it does not depend on the native place/ residence.
- Those passing their qualifying exam from foreign nation have to choose their state code of eligibility as per their permanent address mentioned on passport.
Eligibility for Admitting Institute: For admission in various top institutions like IIITs, NITs, CFTIs, students need to pass their 12^th level with a certain combination of subjects –
- Passed 12^th with Physics & Mathematics subjects along with Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ technical vocational subjects (For B.Tech/ B.E).
- Passed 12^th with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as compulsory subjects (For B.Arch).
- Passed 12^th with Mathematics as a compulsory subject (For B.Plan).
Qualifying Marks (Through CSAB): For admission through CSAB counselling, students should have passed 12^th with 75% marks (65% for ST/SC) OR be among top 20 percentile in 12th level.

Syllabus

The syllabus for JEE Main 2026 includes important topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics of NCERT Class 11 and 12. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the official syllabus in November 2024. Until then, students can refer to the previous year’s syllabus for their preparation.

MOCK TEST

The official mock test is made available to the candidates appearing for JEE Main.
Candidates can take the Mock Test to understand the pattern of the computer-based test and make themselves familiar with the interface.
Mock test is for practice purpose only.
The Mock tests are made available to candidates via National Test Abhyas, available on website and Play store.

PRACTICE TEST

NTA will set up Test Practice Centres for candidates to enable them to practice and be comfortable in taking a Computer Based Test (CBT).
This facility is completely free of cost.

JEE Main 2026 Application Form

JEE Main 2026 Registration process will begin in first week of November 2025.
Complete application process will be carried out in online mode. Forms through any other mode will not be accepted.
Students have the option of registering for a single session or for both sessions Form will be bilingual, i.e., in Hindi or English.
No request for changes in details will be permitted after form submission, so carefully fill in the application details.
Submit only a single application as multiple applications will not be accepted. Strict actions may be taken against those who submit more than one form.
Application procedure is divided into various steps – Online Registration, Filling of application, uploading of scanned images, application fee payment & confirmation/ printing of form.
After application form submission, students need not send any documents or confirmation page to the authority through post/ fax/ email/ by hand.

Now instructions to fill application will be displayed on the screen. Carefully go through the details and instructions to apply.
Register using valid id proof and other details. Now login details – application number and password will be generated.
Fill in other details – personal, qualification, communication, choice of exam city, etc.
Now upload the scanned images of photograph, signature, and category certificate as per the mentioned format and size.
Proceed to next step to pay application fee using provided online payment methods.
Confirm all the filled details before final submission, as no changes will be allowed after form submission.
Download, save, and print of application form for reference in future.

JEE Main 2026 Form Correction

The application correction procedure of JEE Main 2026 opens few days after the completion of registration process. Students can modify the editable details online through login. No correction will be entertained through post/ fax/ mail/ by hand.

For January session, JEE Main Correction 2026 can be done from 1^st – 2^nd week of December 2025 & from 1^st – 2^ndweek of March 2026 for April session. Only one time facility will be provided to candidates for editing the form.

Result

Answer Keys

Answer keys for the Computer-Based Examination will be available on the JEE (Main) website according to the notified schedule.
Candidates who are not satisfied with any answer can challenge the answer keys online before the deadline, with a non-refundable fee of Rs. 200 per question.
For MCQ questions, if more than one option is correct, four marks will be given to those who marked any of the correct options. If all options are correct, four marks will be awarded to everyone who attempted the question.
For Numerical type questions, if a question is found to be incorrect or dropped, four marks will be awarded to all candidates due to human or technical error.
The processing fee is non-refundable.

Re-Checking

There is no provision for revaluation or rechecking of the result.

Score / Result

The JEE (Main) exam scores will be released according to the notified schedule.
The scores will consist of Percentile Scores (NTA Scores), reflecting the relative performance of all candidates who appeared for the exam in that session.
The exam result will include four NTA scores: one for each subject (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) and a Total score for the session.
The All India Rank and category ranks will be declared after the results from both sessions are compiled. For the overall Merit List/Ranking, the higher Total NTA score from the two sessions will be taken into account.
The JEE (Main) result will determine eligibility for the JEE (Advanced). You can check the JEE (Advanced) eligibility criteria here.
Score/rank cards will not be mailed to candidates. They should download their score/rank cards from the JEE (Main) website.

Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs

Admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs participating through the Central Seat Allocation Board will be based on the All India Rank in Paper 1, provided the candidate has achieved at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination OR is in the top 20 percentile of their respective Board’s 12th class exam.
For SC/ST candidates, the qualifying criterion is a minimum of 65% marks in the 12th class examination.
For admission to B. Planning, candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with at least 50% marks in Mathematics and a minimum of 50% marks in the overall aggregate.
JEE (Main) counselling will be conducted online by JoSAA and CSAB in multiple rounds. Candidates must register, submit their preferences for colleges and courses, and will be allocated seats based on their choices, rank, category, and availability of seats.
