National Aptitude Test in Architecture

OVERVIEW

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is an Aptitude test conducted by Council of Architecture (CoA) for admission to the first year of 5-year B.Arch. Degree Course at recognized institutions across India. The test measures cognitive skills, visual perception, aesthetic sensitivity, logical reasoning, and critical thinking ability.

NATA examination is conducted thrice in a year. Candidates are not required to compulsorily take the test multiple times. If a candidate appears for 2 tests, the best of the 2 scores will be considered and if a candidate appears for 3 tests, the average of the 2 best scores shall be taken.

ABOUT

PATTERN

  • It is an Online Test of 3 hours duration.
  • There will be a total of 125 questions carrying 200 marks.
  • The question paper will consist of Multiple-Choice type (MCQ), Multiple Select type (MSQ), Preferential Choice type (PCQ), Numerical Answer type (NAQ), and Match the following type (MFQ) questions.
  • Multiple-Choice type (MCQ) questions have 4 answer choices, out of which only one is the correct answer.
  • Multiple Select type (MSQ) questions have multiple correct answer choices, and all the correct answer choices are to be selected.
  • Preferential Choice type (PCQ) questions carry different marks for each answer choice.
  • Numerical Answer type (NAQ) questions don’t have any choices and a numerical answer is to provided.
  • All the Questions and instructions will be available in English medium only.

Eligiblity

TAKING NATA

QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

  • Candidates should have passed/ appearing in class 12th or any equivalent qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects.
  • OR Candidates must have passed/ appearing 10+3 diploma examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject.

 

ADMISSION TO FIRST YEAR OF B.ARCH.

 

ARCHITECTURE EXAMINATION

Candidates must have qualified a recognized aptitude test in Architecture (NATA or equivalent) in 2024.

 

MARKS IN QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

  • Candidates must obtain a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics along with a minimum aggregate of 50% in class 12th.
  • OR Candidates must have passed 10+3 diploma examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

MOCK TEST

  • The official mock test is made available to the candidates appearing for NATA.
  • Candidates can take the Mock Test to understand the pattern of the computer-based test and make themselves familiar with the interface.
  • The mock test is for practice purpose only.

Procedure

REGISTRATION

  • The registrations for NATA 2024 are expected to begin in March 2024.
  • The last date to apply for NATA 2024 examination is yet to be announced.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Candidates need to visit the NATA website and fill the prescribed application form.
  2. Upload the required documents including a recent colour photograph, scanned copy of candidate’s signature and community certificate (for SC/ST only).
  3. Pay the Registration Fee through online payment modes.
  4. Save the confirmation page for future reference.

APPLICATION CORRECTION

  • Candidates will be provided a facility to make corrections in their application form particulars.
  • It is a one-time facility and is extended to the candidates to avoid any hardship to them.
  • The correction window will open as per schedule.

Result

NOTE

  • The candidates applying for the exam centre in international cities will not be given any choice for test centres.
  • International cities cannot be chosen as second or third choice of exam city.

 

ADMIT CARD

  • For each Applicant, an Admit Card will be generated indicating the allotted Examination Centre for NATA examination.
  • Candidates need to download the Admit Card from the NATA website.
  • Admit Cards of NATA exam will be available after it’s notified.
  • A printed copy of the downloaded admit card should be produced at the time of examination along with a photo identity card.
  • Candidates are advised to retain their admit cards carefully in a secured place in undamaged condition till the completion of admission procedure.

 

ANSWER KEYS

  • The answer key for the exam will be made available to the candidates.
  • After Answer Key publication, a candidate can opt to view his/her answer script on payment of Rs. 3,000 for a single test.

 

QUALIFYING MARKS

In order to qualify NATA, a candidate must secure 70 marks out of 200 marks.

RESULT

The result of the NATA examination will be declared as per schedule.

It will be available as:

  • Marks obtained out of 200 and marks in each component
  • Whether Qualified/ Not Qualified (Check Qualifying Marks)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Candidates must bring the following things to the exam hall:

  • Downloaded Admit Card
  • Proof of Identity – Aadhar / Passport / Driving License / Voter ID.
