Bhubaneswar, May 5, 2025 — In a major breakthrough, the Bhubaneswar Police have arrested four individuals for allegedly running a racket that promised medical college admissions to NEET-UG 2025 aspirants in exchange for large sums of money.

The arrested accused — identified as Priyadarshi Kumar (Jharkhand), Arvind Kumar (Bihar), Sunil Samantray, and Rudra Narayan Behera (Odisha) — were allegedly involved in an inter-state scam targeting desperate candidates ahead of the highly competitive NEET-UG examination.

According to police sources, the gang charged between ₹20 to ₹30 lakh per candidate under the pretense of securing them a seat in reputed private medical colleges. They lured aspirants through false assurances, forged documents, and manipulated exam-related processes.

During the raid, authorities recovered over ₹90 lakh worth of signed cheques, forged certificates, admit card data of 182 students, blank cheques, and other incriminating evidence, including two luxury vehicles and property documents.

Police revealed that the group operated by collecting personal data from NEET aspirants and, in some cases, arranging proxy candidates to write the exam. The fraudsters were believed to be working with middlemen across multiple states, raising concerns over the wider network involved in the operation.

Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police have launched further investigations to trace the full extent of the scam, including possible involvement of coaching agents and college insiders.

Authorities have reiterated their warning to students and parents to avoid falling prey to such fraudulent schemes and to report any suspicious activity immediately. The arrests have once again spotlighted the persistent problem of admission-related scams in India’s medical education system.
